De Stijl
De Stijl was a group of Dutch artists in Amsterdam in 1917. There artists that were more recognized with this movement were the painters Piet Mondrian, Theo van Doesburg, and Vilmos Huszár, as well as the architect Jacobus Johannes Pieter Oud.

De Stijl is characterized for having ideas of spiritual harmony and order, simplified visual compositions, straight lines, by using square and rectangular forms and also using the primary colors: red, blue and yellow. It is also characterized by being asymmetrical, and also for having the geometrical shape with very technical construction (Slideplayercom, 2018).

De Stijl Movement by Piet Mondrian

As we can see, the image above is definitely an example of De stijl. It has the geometrical shape, it uses the primary color and we can also see the straight lines.

Artwork by Daniel Roozendaal

The image above is a contemporary example of this movement. We stilll see the primary colours in there, and the geometrical shape as well, they just played around with shapes to form a portrait. The image was actually made in order to mark the 100th anniversary of the movement. After 100 years, it is still famous nowadays.
